Last night’s MetGala celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the Costume Institute with a salute to modern American fashion. TommyHilfiger and his wife Dee Hilfiger were joined by GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum rapper Jack Harlow styled in a sophisticated velvet TOMMY HILFIGER tuxedo; and playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris whose custom TOMMY HILFIGER over-sized yellow bomber jacket paid homage to Aaliyah’s look from the ‘90s, which continues to be an iconic moment for the brand as well as American fashion.
This year’s The Metropolitan Museum of Art Museum of Art Costume’s Institute exhibition’s theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”, illustrated a new wave of expression in fashion that evokes emotional and social connections through clothing and highlights a need for change.
“Fashion has always been influenced by the world around it, but it underwent one of its biggest transformations in the wake of the unprecedented events last year, as designers and brands, we had to completely rethink who we are and what we stand for. What has inspired me on this journey of rebuilding is the opportunity to create a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive future for the next generation of fashion. Tonight, being reunited with the rest of our industry, I was reminded that our collective efforts will make that future possible.” said Tommy Hilfiger.
