This Quanzhou’s most international design competition was launched last year. It has attracted widespread attention in the global design community through the Internet, attracting more than 10,000 works from 31 countries and regions, setting a record for similar design competitions in Quanzhou. With the grand finale of the awards of the competition, these more than 10,000 works, especially the winning works, will continue to take root in Quanzhou Industrial.
According to the organizer, after the preliminary and final review, nearly a hundred works were finally shortlisted and exhibited in the Huaqiao University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park starting in May this year. According to incomplete statistics, during the exhibition period from May 1 to June 30, thousands of people from design circles, government and enterprises were received. In the end, a total of 50 works in the concept group and product group won the gold, silver, bronze, and excellence awards. At the same time, 3 winners of the most market value award and 3 awards for cutting-edge design were selected. Among them, the gold award works in the product group and the concept group came from Xtep (China)’s “Bottle Recycling High-performance Running Clothes” and “PortaPrint” (mobile 3D printing robot) from Cambridge, UK.
“The gold award works in the product group fully demonstrate the pioneering spirit of the Quanzhou manufacturing industry in terms of green manufacturing. The gold award works in the concept group reflect the international height of the competition and the trend that the design is ultimately used to transform technology and improve the quality of people’s lives.” Xu Kaiqiang, the dean of the University College of Art, said that such competitions will play a leading role in enhancing the reputation of Quanzhou’s industry and improving the landing of regional design talents.
Yang Xuetai, president of the Quanzhou Industrial Design Association, the organizer, said that focusing on industrial design deeply empowers the development of the industry, the association will further play its role as a platform in the future, more closely cooperate with Quanzhou’s characteristic industries, and gradually establish a global design transformation center. Talents and other means, give full play to the driving force of design, further transform science and technology into high-quality products, and meet the needs of more consumers for high-quality life.
